What to Expect
What happens at my first appointment? +
A detailed clinical interview covering your concerns, history, and current symptoms, which guides the assessment process and next steps.
How long does an assessment take? +
It varies by type. A screening is shorter; a full ADHD or autism assessment typically involves one or more clinical appointments. We'll give you clear timelines at booking.
Are assessments online or in person? +
Primarily online via secure video call. Face-to-face appointments can be arranged on request at our Peterborough clinic.
What happens after a diagnosis? +
A detailed written report with your diagnosis and practical recommendations. We are a diagnostic-only service — we'll advise on next steps including onward referral for treatment or support.

Our Service
Are your reports recognised by schools and employers? +
Yes. Led by Consultant Psychiatrists and following NICE guidelines, our reports are recognised for school accommodations, workplace adjustments, and professional referrals.
Do you need to be CQC registered? +
The Thistle Clinic currently provides diagnostic and assessment services only and does not provide prescribing services. Based on the current service model, CQC registration is not required at this stage. We are actively preparing for future CQC registration as our service develops.
Are assessments available for children as well as adults? +
Yes. We provide specialist assessments for both adults and children, with approaches tailored to age and individual needs.
What conditions do you assess? +
ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We also offer screening assessments and medico-legal psychiatric reports for official or legal purposes.
